Some Things That Are Good To Know Before Using Klinkers

Klinker is similar to tile, with the difference that klinkers has a higher density.

Meaning? The strength and sustainability are increased. Qualities which are useful i.e. in underfloor heating; as by the klinker the warmth is better sustained. With klinkers, the use of underfloor heating is suggested; as naturally the klinker is very cold.

If you’re renovating, and want to change the klinker - while retaining the floor's capacity for underfloor heating - it is a good idea to first remove the existing floor. If you decide not to, as the layer above the underfloor heating is thicker than it would have been had you removed the existing floor, the floor will isolate more; meaning an increased amount of warmth is directed downward, as opposed to where it should be going, into your feet.

Before painting on klinkers, clean the klinkers with wash paint and, if the klinker is very slick, grind it with water abrasive paper. To get the most out of ceramic lined surfaces, klinkers, it’s important that the klinkers has some specific qualities – those used for floors, need to be durable, withstand detergents and the surface treatment of it should, if it is a possibility, be slip-depressant. As floors often get dirty, it might be a good idea to have glazed plates - as the glazing protects from dirt going into the pores of the plate.
